A Fundamental rights petition filed challenging the naming of several new detention centres
A fundamental rights petition challenging the naming of several new detention centres inside military installations was withdrawn this morning after State Counsel informed the Court that these places have only been identified and would be run under the supervision of the IGP.
The Petitioner M.K.Amitha Priyanthi in her petition said that the detention centres were being set up in palaces which the public had no access and the detentions would be for an unlimited period of time which is in violation of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.
The Petitioner expressed her willingness to withdraw the petition on the basis the camps would be under the supervision of the IGP.
