Monies taken from soldiers who had left their commissions not paid back

 

 

They say that even though the relevant regiments had requested fro the bank account details, even one year later, the monies had not been deposited in the accounts.

 

Military Spokesperson Major General Prasad Samarasinghe said that if there were such issues, the respective parties should resolve the matter with the relevant regiments after visiting   the offices at the Bodhiraja Viharaya in Panagoda.

 

The Major General said that of the 23,000 soldiers who had returned to the Army during the amnesty period, about 14,000 have now officially retired from the force and relevant documents are being processed with regard to 8,000 others.
