Susanthika wins another gold

Susanthika Jayasinghe completed a grand sprint double at the inaugural Lusofonia Games in Macau yesterday when she cruised to victory in the 100 metres sprint to add to her 200 metres gold won the previous day.

Sri Lanka’s men’s 4X400 metres team won a silver medal while triple jumper Chaminda Sampath clinched a bronze medal with a leap of 15.62 metres to help Sri Lanka retain the third place in the medals table at the end of yesterday.

Sri Lanka had a haul of three golds, two silvers and one bronze for a total of six medals by the end of yesterday’s action.

Brazil were leading the medals table with 26 golds, 18 silvers and nine bronze medals for a total of 53 medals while Portugal were lying second with 11 golds, 15 silvers and 19 bronze medals for a total of 45 medals.
