The ICRC has resumed its routine duties at Omanthai Entry – Exit point. The decision to resume duties was taken after negotiations were held with both, the military and the LTTE, said the spokesman David Vignatti.

Following security guaranties from both sides the ICRC decided to resume work. However, the Uyilankulam check point will remain closed, said the spokesman.

The ICRC suspended its activities at Omanthai following the eruption of fighting between the parties on Wednesday night. Following the withdrawal of the ICRC from the checkpoint, the people who were waiting to come to Vavuniya from Vanni had to face difficulties, reports from Vanni revealed.
