Sixteen civilians from the LTTE controlled Vidataltivu, escaped the grip of the LTTE and have sought refuge in the Navy Camp at Pallimunai in Mannar. The sixteen include five children; seven males and four females said the Media Centre for National Security.

While the LTTE ahs invited the UN High Commissioner on human rights, Louise Arbour to visit Vanni, the people of Vanni are fleeing as their fundamental rights are being violated.

The people live in the LTTE controlled area under oppression without any freedom or right. The LTTE is abducting children in Vanni on the basis of one child per house for conscription.
