The Government and LTTE agreed to open the Mannar Madu Road today the 10th for the convenience of the pilgrims to participate in the annual Madhu Church festival. But the Mannar G.A., A. Nicholaspillai said, it is not possible to open the Mannar Madu Road because the ICRC has not come forward for monitoring service in the no man area.

Hence arrangements are being made to use the Uyilankulam Road instead of Madu Mannar Road. The road has been closed for the last one year and we were not given sufficient time to clear the land mines planted in this road and it is also not safe to use the road, said the ICRC.
