Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara recently revealed that the Government will be issuing a new identity card to the residents of Jaffna Peninsula in northern Sri Lanka.
According to Brigadier Nanayakkara, the new identity card, carrying a recent photograph of the person along with many other essential details, is expected to reduce the inconvenience made to the Jaffna residents at the security checkpoints.
It is reported that this special identity card will be issued to all persons above the age of 15 years and is expected to cover the entire population in the Jaffna peninsula within next 5 months.
