Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
image   The newly introduced regulation of mobile and CDMA phones is a violation of the people's right to expression, said Chief Opposition Whip Joseph Michael Perera who is from the UNP.  He told parliament today (July 25th) that no country has laws to regulate the phones. Mr. Perera called for more consideration and responsibility on the part of the government in deciding laws that directly affect the people. In reply, Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickremanayake said the new laws are intended to prevent the use of mobile and CDMA phone for unlawful and criminal activities.
