Public, specially the Tamils need not fear of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, said President, Mahinda Rajapakse.

The PTA would not be a hindrance to finding a solution to the North East crisis. The government is always ready to grant a political solution.

People of this country gave me the mandate to protect this country. Hence I announce that a solution will be achieved to the Northeast crisis by negotiation. I have informed that I am prepared to hold talks with Prabakaran directly in this regard. My government decided to reintroduce the Prevention of Terrorism Act after carefully studying the situation in the country, as there have been continuous attacks after I assumed office on November 19 last year. The Tamils need not fear of this act, he said further.  The government will not allow any threat to the security and sovereignty.
