The government has violated the ceasefire agreement by closing the A9 route. Hence the agreement became null and void, but we are prepared to adhere to it, said Thamilchelvan.
Iceland Foreign Ministry official Antra Jegamburg also participated in this meeting held yesterday at 11.00 am on behalf of the Monitoring Mission. LTTE political leader SP Thamilchelvan, Nadesan, Pulithevan and Ilanthirayan participated on behalf of the LTTE.
After the ceasefire agreement in 2002 the LTTE has violated the agreement so many times. Suicide bomb attack on army commander Sarath Fonseka, army official Paramu Kulatunga, the security forces, an attempt on Douglas Devananda’s life, claymore mine attacks and Mavilaru Anicut closure are a few.
