Kelanisiri Bridge linking Kolonnawa and Kelaniya opened

The Kelanisiri Bridge linking Kolonnawa and Kelaniya was opened Friday by the Minister of Road Development T.B. Ekanayake.

The bridge, which is 130 meters long and 10 meters wide, has been constructed at a cost of 16.5 million rupees.

The construction activities of the bridge begun as a result of a proposal made by former deputy minister of transport and highway Navalage Benet Cooray.

Speaking on the occasion Minister Ekanayake said the government has made all the arrangements to implement all the road development projects inaugurated by the late Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle. Minister Mervin Silva who also spoke on the occasion said that the government has implemented a massive development process in the Kelaniya area. A new bus service was also begun from Kelaniya to Rajagiriya coincide with the ceremony.
