Unmitigated violence and ruthless murders continue against the Media says UNP

Despite raging accusations pointing at the Govt. in regard to continued violence and outrageous intimidation, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the Govt. is impotent in this direction to curb these crimes.

Not even two days have passed by since the Editor of ‘Nation ‘ newspaper was brutally attacked by a gang , another Journalist, Devakumaran , attached to the Sirasa was hacked to death by an unidentified gang in Jaffna . He died on the spot.

He was traveling with his friend to a shop when they were attacked. His friend, an employee of the Jaffna kachcheri succumbed to his injuries at the Jaffna Hospital.

What is intriguing is that, in all these cases, no arrests proper have been made.
