Minister of Road Development T.B. Ekanayake says the construction of the flyover in Nugegoda will commence on next month.

The 300 meter bridge will be contained with four strips. It is the objective of the Ministry to conclude the construction work within 90 days. The government of Britain is funding the project.

Meanwhile the second phase of the Kelaniya flyover is now in progress. The construction work of the Panadura flyover is also to be completed within this year. Speaking to media the minister disclosed 16 flyovers are to be built through out the Island.

The government said the Kelanisiri Bridge linking between Kolonnawa and Kelaniya will be opened tomorrow morning [30]. The bridge is 130 meters long and 10 meters wide. The total expenditure of the construction is 16.5 million rupees.

The construction activities have been started as a result of a proposal made by former deputy minister of transport and highway Navalage Benet Cooray.

Participating in a news briefing yesterday, he said a vast development in the area will be unleashed after inauguration of the bridge.

Measures have been taken to operate a bus service between Kelaniya and Battaramulla.
