547,000 students will sit for the GCE O/L examination to be held on December 11, said the Commissioner Anura Edirisinghe.

The examination will be held from 11th to the 21st of December. More students are sitting for this exam than the previous years. All arrangements are being done to hold the exams.

Schools for examination centers, coordinating officers, examination officers and supervisors have been organized.

The internally displaced students and the students displaced to India will be sitting for the exam this time.

The admission cards for school candidates will be sent to the principals of the school next week. Admission cards and question papers will be sent to the uncleared areas as well.  The public in these areas must co-operate to hold the exam, he said further.
