A claymore mine, weapons and ammunition found - Batticaloa
Troops conducted a search operation in general area Vellaveli in Batticaloa found a claymore mine and some other warlike items in early hours yesterday, May 11. A Claymore mine weighing of 5.5Kg, 55 meters length flexible wire and one 9v battery were also found in the search operation conducted around 5.00 am, sources said.
Meanwhile, in a separate search operation conducted at Mudagala in Batticaloa, troops have found 2 T-56 weapons, 3 hand grenades, 300 MPMG (Multi Purpose Machine Gun) rounds, 14 T-56 magazines and an LTTE flag yesterday, May 11.
Security forces personnel in counter terrorist operations in Vavuniya front killed 11 LTTE terrorists during the clashes sparked yesterday, May 11.
According to the report reached from the forefront, the incidents are reported from Periyamadhu, Palampiddi and Palamoddai areas.
Troops have ambushed a terror movement killing 4 terrorists in general area Periyamadu in morning hours yesterday.
Meanwhile, troops attacked an LTTE gathering in general area Palampiddi and monitored LTTE transmission confirmed that 2 LTTE cadres were killed in the attack. In the same area, an army soldier was killed exploding an anti-personnel mine while conducting mine-clearing operations in the area. Another army soldier was killed in a confrontation occurred around 2.45 pm yesterday. The enemy casualties not reported yet.
Separately, troops have ambushed a group of LTTE terrorists in general area Palamoddai last afternoon. Ground troops confirmed that 5 terrorists were killed in this attack. No damages reported to own troops in enemy retaliation.
Troops conducting mine-clearing operations in Kovitkunchu and Palammodda areas have unearthed 11 anti-personnel mines through out the day.
