WHO team here to start investigations on unknown

Investigations are underway to identify unknown kidney
diseases in North central, north western and Uva
provinces.  A team of investigators of World Health
Organisation will arrive in the country to continue
investigations on this.  Minister Nimal Siripala de
Silva said the team consists a Sri Lanka doctor and
specialists on kidney diseases. The Minister explained
on this disease at the executive committee meeting of
the WHO held in March.
   According to the health officials around 6,000
patients have been identified in these provinces.  The
Health sector points out that the number of patients
could have been raised in future. The cause for the
disease so far not identified. These investigators
will be participated for special discussion on this
issue.
