UN condemns Sunday's bomb blast

The United Nations has strongly condemned the suicide attack on Sunday during a peaceful sporting event.

The UN office of the resident coordinator in Colombo offers its deepest sympathies to the families of the victims.

The UN condemns all violence and indiscriminate attacks against civilians in Sri Lanka. In a statement issued today, the UN also urges all parties to the conflict to do everything within their power to avoid civilian casualties. It also appeals to them to seek a negotiated peaceful solution to the conflict
