Security forces caution the public in parking their vehicles at isolated places
The security forces caution the public in parking their vehicles at isolated places in the Colombo city. The intelligence sources have uncovered information that the LTTE terrorists have a plan to set bombs to such vehicles by using magnetic devices.
Such bombs were found among a stock of weapons seized by the police in Modera recently. The LTTE is making attempts to destroy electricity transformers by detonating bombs. Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara pointed out the need of public to be vigilant on such acts of sabotage.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that top level leaders of the terrorist outfit have allowed their members to reside at the camps with their family members. This fact was confirmed when the troops found toys of children at abandoned camps of the LTTE in Pallikkulli in Mannar recently.
The Brigadier said the objective of the terrorists is to discredit the government troops if these children happen to be killed in attacks. The LTTE is forcibly recruiting persons to the organisation due to the dearth of combatants. Sources emanating from Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi say they have made compulsory for school children to undergo military training of the organisation.
The military spokesman further revealed that 133 terrorists were killed in attacks of the security forces during the last week. Seven security personnel also died during this period.
