JVP group leader Wimal Weerawansa, making a special statement in Parliament yesterday, said a plot was being hatched by Dr. Radhika Coomaraswamy, who currently holds a UN post and Director of the International Centre of Ethnic Studies Dr. Rama Mani to get international intervention in Sri Lanka when the LTTE terrorists were being defeated by the armed forces.

Coomaraswamy, in contravention of UN regulations, continued to hold office in the ICES, an NGO that was in the forefront of the conspiracy to make a case for  the so-called R2P (Right to Protect). The government should seek a clarification from the UN as to how Coomaraswamy flouted UN regulations with impunity and no visa should be issued to Dr. Mani, he said.

In reply to member Weerawansa, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake said the visa of Dr. Mani had been withdrawn and she would not be issued a visa again to en enter or remain in the country.
