Welioya blast killed 13
The number of deaths caused by yesterday’s claymore attack on a commuter bus at the Kobbekaduwa junction in Weli-Oya has climbed to 13.
Padaviya district medical officer Dr. Mahinda Uyangoda said 13 males and 04 females were admitted to the hospital and one male succumbed to injuries. A spokesmen for Anuradhapura hospital said that the 16 injured persons were transferred to the hospital for further treatment from the Padaviya hospital. Dr. Uyangoda said all bodies have been identified by relatives.
Minister of disaster relief services Rishard Badudeen says compensation on behalf of those killed or injured in the claymore mine attack in Weli-Oya will be presented today. A maximum of 100 thousand rupees will be presented on behalf of a married person killed. Under the first stage compensation amounting to 50 thousand rupees will be presented.
