The government has achieved considerable progress in resettling internally displaced persons in their original homes.
The ministry of foreign affairs says in the eastern province alone, over 108,000 IDPs have returned to their homes since March last year and only 38,178 persons are yet to be resettled.
Meanwhile, the total number of IDPs in the country has dropped to 187,500 persons. The ministry of foreign affairs further states that the international community including the UNHCR has acknowledged that the resettlement process is in keeping with international standards.
