Weapons detected in Vavuniya and Batticaloa

The troops are engaged in continuous search operation in the Batticaloa District after the East was redeemed from the clutches of the terrorists.

In a search and clear operation in the Batticaloa Koolavady area yesterday around 9.00 a.m. the troops unearthed a LTTE radio communication equipment, one suicide jacket, a huge claymore mine 15 kg, large stock of bicycle balls, a claymore firing device, a battery charger and 12 V battery.

At the same time the troops on road clearing patrol recovered 166 anti personnel mines planted at Vavuniya Ambattailluppikulam the day before yesterday. Further the troops recovered five hand grenades and 41 land mines during a search operation in the Thampanai area.
