The public of Mannar have challenged the warnings extended by Tigers to evacuate from places in close proximity to the military camps.

The LTTE had distributed handbills warning the public to evacuate and thereby wanted to disturb the normalcy and to terrorise them, but it did not work well, said Army Spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara.

The suicide squad of the LTTE had distributed pamphlets asking people living within 5 km of the army camps to decamp. The people did not take this LTTE warning seriously but drew the attention of the troops towards the warnings. Hence, the forces have consolidated the security of villages in Vankalai, Mannar Town and other areas of Mannar, said Udaya Nanayakkara.
