The events since 2002 indicate that Prabakaran is not at all concerned about peace talks, said Secretary to Government Peace Secretariat Rajiv Wijesinghe.

The LTTE raised funds and procured modern weapons directly and indirectly while the government prepared for peace talks. Prabakaran described Tamilchelvan as the dove for peace but he who clipped the wings of the peace dove, he said.

It is a historical fact that Tamilchelvan supported all anti-people moves by Prabakaran. It is because of this that Tamilchelvan who was close to Mahataya could save his brother Moorthy from death sentence when Prabakaran executed Mahataya.

Political analysts pointed out that Moorthy, the brother of Tamilchelvan was first imprisoned and later given pardon and ultimately was made a clerk. Anton Balasingam, instead of advocating Prabakaran’s long time dream of Tamil Elam, was flexible towards a federal state and was gradually sidelined in his last days. This is truth that everyone is aware of, said the analysts.
